Experience

With over 10 years experience working in Architecture and Design, I have a wide and varied range of project experience. As my career began to develop, I gained an interest in project management and enrolled in a diploma of construction management.

My early career focused on residential design, working at CBA Building Designers, principal practitioner and my mentor Shane DeAraugo, shared his years of knowledge,
instilled a high standard for documentation and a passion for producing individual results, that respond to the client and the site. These are all things I still focus on in my career every day.

Whilst I was in the process of completing my diploma, I began working at Harry The Hirer and this job further enhanced my interest in project / construction management. Working at Harry The Hirer has allowed me to have enormous exposure in working with corporate and commercial clients on both permanent and temporary projects. The temporary structures that I have worked on, more often then not, were full scale commercial builds. Marquees require facades, decks, walling, joinery and signage. Each of these projects included a huge range of consultants, such as engineers, DDA compliance and planning permits.

To enhance communication and further educate myself, I began working part-time from the Harry The Hirer internal workshop where I would discuss and work through any detailing issues with the carpenters and the cabinet makers. This process was hugely beneficial and a process that I really enjoyed. My knowledge of joinery particularly benefited from this.

Once my diploma was completed I began working in the Harry The Hirer Custom Build Project Management team. This is a fast paced environment that mixed project management and sales. I enjoyed a huge first six months in the role, exceeding my sales targets and bringing in over 950k in revenue, as well as establishing new working relationships with three new clients one of which included Westfield Australia.

Unfortunately the current COVID19 situation has brought the events industry (along with so many others) to a complete halt and at this stage the return of major events and crowds of 100,000+ are some time away. Whilst this is a devastating blow to the industry and 750 of my colleagues have been stood down indefinitely, this leads me to be seeking the next step and opportunity in my career. I’m very keen to continue developing my skills in both architecture and in project management, as I love working in these roles.

Big fan of podcasts, especially ones about crime and ‘My Dad Wrote A Porno’ for a laugh. Definitely a city-dweller over the country, beer over wine and the book over the movie. I love travel and spent two years living and working in the UK. I haven’t done much travel lately (COVID19) and my focus has been on savings for a deposit for my first home, which I’m hoping to purchase very soon.
